KARTARPUR COMPLEX AND GURUDWARA DARBAR SAHIB
Context: India and Pakistan last week signed agreement on the Kartarpur corridor which will allow Indian pilgrims to undertake visa free visit to gurudwara Darbar sahib ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak on November 12.
The agreement will allow 5000 Indian pilgrims daily to visit gurudwara Darbar sahib.
GURUDWARA DARBAR SAHIB
- It’s the shrine of Sikh religions founder Guru Nanak dev in Pakistan.
- It’s here that Guru Nanak spent the last 18 years of his life.
- The corridor connects the Dera Babananak shrine in India’s Punjab with Darbar sahib at Kartarpur just 4 km from the international border, located at Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province.
